IWA-AIT 90th anniversary conference - 5th January 2013

Due to unforeseen circumstances, including one of the key organisers and speakers having been taken seriously ill, we have had to reduce the conference to just Saturday 5th January 2013. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

IWA-AIT 90th anniversary conference
Hosted by South London Solidarity Federation

Final programme

12:00 – 13:15 IWA - 90’s years of ideas & practice
For 90 years the IWA has been at the forefront of the struggle against capital and the state, a SolFed member with decades of experience as an workplace militant and long time IWA affiliate introduces the theory and practice behind anarcho-syndicalism.

13:15 – 14:00 Break

14:00 – 15:15 FORA history & current activities
The FORA, the Regional Workers' Federation of Argentina is one of the oldest sections of the IWA with more than 110 years of activity and a distinct organisational form. Guillermo Zunzunegui gives a talk on the history and current activities of the FOR A, with a focus on the social crisis in Argentina in 2001.

15:15 – 15:30 Break

15:30 – 16:50 Priama Akcia on the IWA in Slovakia
Priama akcia (PA) will speak about the experiences in the course of its development since it was founded in 2000 until now, focusing on the evolution and changes in its activities, perspectives and directions. A few words will be said about the IWA, mainly with regard to solidarity actions with the IWA sections and PA involvement in the internal life of the IWA.

PA members will then focus on the aim of the organization - helping its own members in the workplace, as well as expressing solidarity with other struggling workers. PA is also interested in hearing ideas from comrades in the audience about the problems we face in our everyday activities.

16:50 – 17:00 Break

17:00 – 18:00 Solidarity Federation, past and present
An ex-DAM and current SF member will look at the history of Solidarity Federation with an accompanying talk by another SF member covering the current anti-workfare campaign.

All talks include time for discussion.
